Liv Kristine got known as being the vocalist of the band Leaves’ Eyes. Also as a solo artist she released some material, it being more alternative pop. “Libertine” is her latest release.
As we got used to Liv Kristine gives us a new collection of soft, dreamy songs. It sounds like alternative pop, but is yet a little different because Liv does not have the most stereotypical voice. “Libertine” has some nice songs, take for example the title song which is quite intense compared some of the other tracks. It has a certain dose of catchiness and that is exactly why the songs stick in mind so easily. In a song like “Silence” she starts with a piece of piano and take the song a little intimidate a very sensitive track that drags you into the album, so it has a good spot, rather early in the track list. The song “ParisParis” makes you smile for the up tempo parts in it as well as the lyrics having her version of “Get To France” played live at Greentunes Festival still fresh in mind. As a closer the track “The Man With A Child In His Eyes” (Kate Bush cover) is on the list, a track that works very well for her sound. “Libertine” is a gorgeous pop album that you could listen to for multiple times. If there are still people that expect this to be solo Leaves Eyes material, don’t! It is so much different from that.
