Metalcore formation Shadows Fall is back with a brand new release. After their founding in 1995 the band first played Melodic Death Metal, but changed to Metalcore later on. However they still use the best of both in their sound. “Fire From The Sky” is the seventh studio full length album from the guys.
What made Shadows Fall to what they are is their catchy sound, easy to pick up. Lyrics you want to sing/shout along and a strong instrumental base that sounds quite full. In this way Shadows Fall does not surprise us anymore, on “Fire From The Sky” you get exactly what you expect from them. With this release they show that they are capable of setting a varied tracklist. The beginning more focused on the melodic side and towards the end you get that Metalcore side taking the lead. The two live tracks that are on the album as well show you exactly how energetic the guys can get while playing live, quite a contrast with a track like “Divide And Conquer” that has some focus on the melodic side of the band. In general, take some time to listen to the guitars in particular, there you’ll see some quality that defines Shadows Fall and what creates the red thread thought this release.
Sure the band progressed again and hopefully their fanbase will grow a little more, because the guys bring more quality than some other bands in the scene, but not always get the same credits for it. “Fire From The Sky” shows that they are worth it.
