The Flea Marketeers are a Nashville based acoustic group that blend a plethora of styles, most prominently gypsy jazz and Americana, to create a unique yet rootsy sound. The band is made up of Mark Sloan, guitar, mandolin and vocals; Jordan Taylor, banjo and vocals; Andrew Hunt, guitar and vocals; Kellen Wenrich, violin; Kevin Whitsett, upright bass and Stephen Puckett, drums. Inspired by guitar legend Django Rienhardt, Sloan sought to create a group where this virtuosic style of playing would complement hooky pop songs. It was in the summer of 2010 when he presented this idea to Wenrich, currently playing with the roots rock group Apache Relay.
You might not have heard of them before, but this Nashville band deserves your attention. They now have an album, self-titled “The Flea Marketeers”, that comes with ten tracks. You can get the songs on their homepage. Now the music on this very album is catchy. Some songs animate you to dance along, others are calm. But all are catchy for sure. Their music goes back to the roots. Without fancy editing and samples their music is absolutely handmade. You can hear the passion in the music. The Flea Marketeers created a beautiful album which spreads love and good vibes. The Flea Marketeers is a band you should definitely check out.
