Jovian Spin – Shapes of Perception

Releasedate: 13-04-2012; Label: Echozone
By: Sabine van Gameren

German formation Jovian Spin makes a combination of Industrial and Rock. The band just released their debut album called: “Shapes of Perception”.

It has the catchiness of a pop rock formation like Shinedown, heavier vocals though and then some industrial parts blend it that make the sound deeper than the typical chart material. Overall the band contains slow tempo’s hardly taking up the tempo, while you are somehow craving for that after a while. The explosion of heaviness stays out. A bit of an anti-climax perhaps, twelve tracks like this may be a bit too much, but the concept of these guys is solid. The tracks individual are well composed and give a variety of what the guys can do. Although their info mentioned some dance ability, it seems a bit unlikely to build an image of many people dancing during their gig. Jumping, rocking yes… but not like it would be typical club music. Nevertheless, it is an interesting release, the guys are truly looking for an unique sound and in some way found themselves apart from others indeed. “Shapes of Perception” is a good debut album, a release that shows a band that can grow into something very interesting.
