Chickpeace is a band from Switzerland. They make a combination of Pop, Rock, Funk and Blues. They have been around since 2008 and are now releasing their debut full length album “To The Point”.
Female fronted Chickpeace has a relaxed way of presenting their songs, often started with calm moment to slowly work to climaxes where vocalist Kelly-Anne let herself go and give some raw power when needed. Her voice is quite clean but she likes to explore her range and give a raw edge to it when needed. Instrumentally she gets backed up by a swinging combination of guitars and bass finished off with a steady drum that surprisingly does not stick with the basics. Here and there the band shows some personality that is not too common, but yet it always returns to something recognizable, something that people will identify with. “To The Point” is an album that is simply relaxed to listen to. A young band that has plenty of talent and shows that they are up for quite something. It gives you the impression that they are a wonderful live formation for those summer nights in the park. Recommended for everyone that likes this chill out music.
