Grenouer is a Russian death metal band, formed in late 1992. In 1996 the band came with their debut album. Some albums followed and anno 2012 it seemed that the guys were ready to bring some nostalgia as they released their second and thirds album (“The Odour O’Folly” and “Gravehead” again.
It is interesting to see these two albums getting together now, they are not the most outstanding releases in Death Metal to be found, yet the band has a strong basis. It is straightforward, you know what to expect and that is quite pleasant when you are simply looking for a solid sound. As for new listeners it would have been more interesting to see two albums that lay apart in time together to see the band’s growth. If you compare these two, the first one “The Odour O’Folly” (actually the third album in line) is showing a little more experimenting. Some industrial elements, which seemed to be absent in their second release “Gravehead”. Overall the band shows variety with these rereleased albums. It are both old releases so to see what the band does nowadays will be an interesting matter, but with Grenouer there seems to be a band that is interesting to explore.
