Releasedate: 2011; Label: Worldlessness Records

The Lust is a Russian formation that formed in 2002. They make emotional, gothic rock and has been releasing quite some albums already. “Decomposition Deluxe” is their fifth.
The band is female fronted by vocalist Mirla. She brings in a little sugar into the sound with her still quite young sound. She does a quite nice job, yet you may notice there is some space to develop. Into diversity, into strength but that’s a matter of time. Guitars are bringing the major part of interest in this release, with the breakouts here and there the band shows themselves melodic. Yet the effect falls a bit behind by the production, it is quite polished and misses the sharp edges that could bring some highlights forward to make it stand out more. Right now the band falls between the commercial side that bands like All Ends often show and the more gothic metal formations. The band could play around with their extremes. Those ballads versus some more aggression to make the whole a bit more alive. “Decomposition Deluxe” shows a band that is finding their own direction, but is still on the grow. Must be said, the tracks are recorded between 2006 and 2009, which just makes it more interesting to see what these musicians would bring anno 2012.
