The Grotesquery is 90’s Horror Death Metal band out of the hands of Rogga Johansson and Kam Lee. The two are both involved and various projects and this one started in 2008. This year they return with a second full length release under this name and it is called: “The Facts and Terrifying Testament of Mason Hamilton: Tsathoggua Tales”.
Quite a mouth full it is and when listening this album you find plenty of tales being told, brutal and mean, one more horror than the other. So are the tracks itself. Mean nasty guitars, filthy and thick. Old School Death Metal as the reputation of both the above mentioned will tell you so. Combine it with a decent groove and you feel what this album is about. Sure the horror drips of on all sides, you just can’t miss it. Compared to the band’s debut you will notice some changes, it seem to be a little more articulated. Putting the stress on all instruments at its time and creating depth into it where it needed more. The Grotesquery fine-tuned their sound and maybe stepped a bit away from the most cliché elements that were there to be found. Just as the debut, this album is a nice add to your collection. Surprising yet again and simply sticks together as it should be.
