Empatic – Gods Of Thousand Souls

Releasedate: 20-01-2012; Label: Terrasound Records
By: Sabine van Gameren

Empatic are a Polish Death/Thrash formation that started in 2005. Anno 2010 the band came with their debut album, that gets spread in Europe a little more in 2012.

A release of 2010 is only relevant in 2012 if it is a release that comes with some quality. Empatic can assure you from that track one. The music is a little catchy, the guitars are taking care of that, but also the way of composing of these guys is focussed to bring music that sticks in mind. Melodic parts are perfectly framed with the voice of vocalist Maciej Rochaczewsk which has a raw, raspy voice but remains quite understandable. Also a pro of this album is that the drums are not disappearing in the mix, but are giving act the presence even while the guitars are often asking for most attention. The album simply has a good production.
“Gods Of Thousand Souls” is for sure not the most renewing album, but yet it manages to surprise you. It has some nice moments within but the guys must be aware that they not embrace the stereotypes of the genre too much, but keep on building on these surprising parts they included in their album to keep the interest of the long-time metalfan. Last minute party-tip: that OMD cover that closes the release, hell yeah!
