In the year 2006 there was a girl from the UK, which released a single called “Smile”. It contained a slight British accent and had an entertaining video, which was shown so often on television that it soon got annoying. That girl was Lily Allen and now she released her second album “It’s Not Me, It is you”
Lily has a certain entertaining way of making music. The lyrics are often humorous and somehow a bit teasing while a little sarcasm can be found as well. A lot effects have been used on the album, sometimes you think you hear a old-school movie song since the background music fits that well. Then again you might found yourself in a carnival.
Thank you lily, for not being the next girl that sings an album full of self-pity songs. A rebellious side can be heard; it is not me, it is you! Lily says exactly what she wants to say and speaks her mind. We don’t need another crybaby in the pop scene, we need a Lily! It’s original, refreshing and well… Lily… I totally forgive you about “Smile”
With fourteen songs on the album, you get your money worth, so I would say: get it while you can!
