Prog rock formation So Is The Tongue has its base in USA. It all started in 2005. The debut came in 2007 and it got re-released again in 2009. Now the band comes with a second full length release called “A Child of Divorce”.
At first sight So Is The Tongue seem to be a bit of a black sheep, its different than what you may expect and seems a little timid with it as well. The production is not shiny, rather raw and therefore sometimes setting you back with the sound of years ago. Nobody mind a little nostalgia you would say, but then you need to make sure your music is as strong as it was back then. Unfortunately that is lacking in this release. The compositions are going on and on and maybe sound a bit whining after a while. At those points there is a little fire needed, but the flame doesn’t really grow.
Somehow you have the impression these guys can do more than what we got right now and that is a thing that makes it even easier to forget about the release. It has its moments and for some nostalgia you might give it some spins, but unfortunately this is not one that stays on top of the pile.
