Lvcifyre – The Calling Depths

Releasedate: 02-01-2012; Label: Pulverised Records
By: Sabine van Gameren

Lvcifyre is a Death Metal formation from London. They have started in 2007 and have released an EP in 2009 before their debut album “The Calling Depths” sees light.

The band sets us down with some modern vehemence and quite strongly composed you get a good feeling about these guys in the first minutes of their release straight away, these guys know what they are doing. Reminds slightly to a band like Immolation, but with a little extra on it. Strong riffs, heavy, filling up their sound quite well accompanied with some strong vocals of mr. T. Kaos.
Somehow it surprises to see the band has only two members as clearly have the quality to make it sound massive. Blastbeats surely help you with that as well. You could discuss the need of bass in their release, but with the sound they give on this release you don’t really yearn for that.
With the given brutality in this release it must be said that you don’t have to expect anything that is totally refreshing new, but we doubt anyone did that anyway. The band does exactly what they should do and gave the world “The Calling Depths”, a fine Death Metal release that has a strong body and is well composed.
