“Virgin Steel” is not the most known US hairy something of 80’s. This heavy metal band has a several albums during their two decades’ history. One of them “Age of contest” was released in 1988. There is not the first time of re-mastering the album. The previous one has been made in 1997 (ten years from original release) and included a few new tracks. As 2011 version has.

Perhaps, the main aim of re-mastering the old thing was remain of the golden time of heavy metal with touching ballads, long killer guitar solos and voice hitting few octaves. Through the dub-steps times and music made by the program, the crying guitars, beating-hell-out drums and singers which knows how to sing are the worth. For knowing how songs would be long, there is 11-minutes ballad “A changeling dawn” accompanied by piano. Besides a huge amount of own songs, there are some covers, for example, “Desert Plains” and “Screaming for Vengeance” of “Judas Priest” and “Stay on Top” of “Uriah Heep”. Plus several unreleased tracks. Who knows, would another re-mastered version have some unreleased and cover tracks or it would be absolutely new full-length album. Let see. It seems for this band it’s never good enough.
