Gothic/Wave formation Diodati combines classical Music with the sound of nowadays. The album “Diem Supremum Obire”, which is Latin for ‘move towards the final day’, is out now.
Diodati starts this album quite heavy and intense. Maybe a bit too strong if you compare to what the whole album brings, but surely an interesting introduction. They have German lyrics but the majority of them are in English. Musically it is often the cello that brings a sort of basis into their sound from the heavy sounds towards the gorgeous melodies that the band also uses, these really set the atmosphere. Vocals are leaving less of an impression, these tend to be quite calm and more telling a story rather than putting strength into the music. A different role. What makes this album by Diodati worth listening is the overall experience of this release. When you put it all together is work, but not try to focus your attention on one of the aspects to single it out.
The album needs to grow on you but gives the impression you have to see it live to get the true feeling of what is going on. The story is brought well, but the impact may be more while seeing it played right in front of you.
