Herratik – Compromise Gone

Releasedate: 21-10-2011; Label: Battlegod Productions
By: Sabine van Gameren

Herratik is a Death/ Thrash Metal formation from Australia. Based in Sydney, they started in 1998 under the name of Abortus but changed to Herratik later. Under this name their second full length “Compromise Gone” comes out.

Herratik is a band that have their tempo going quite strong. Great for those who like it, but less great when realizing that this is right the point where the guys appear a bit messy in this recording. This may be the production of the album, but it does not give them a fair start. The rage and aggression comes fast, ten songs in about 30 minutes so you must be careful not to miss out on the most precious parts. Some melodic riffs here and there may be come as surprise but bring a little variation in it all and overall are a good add to their sound. It’s a bit of a shame that the guys haven’t extended their sound a little more. It appears a bit chaotic sometimes as if they try to put too much into a short amount of time. Yet it has a filthy Thrash atmosphere that does work in their advance. A little unusual perhaps, but not a bad release.
