Haujobb – New World March

Releasedate: 11-11-2011; Label: Zweiek
By: Lara Cappelli

Haujobb is an electronic project formed in 1993 by the German artist Daniel Myer. After realising the single “Dead Market” in June already, they are now back with “New World March”.

Daniel Myer is certainly a busy artist. His sides project kept music coming from him for quite a while, but also made the wait for Haujobb new release 8-year-long. “New World March” doesn’t push that far the kind of music we are used to listen from this project, but it does give to it a more defined shape. The general alternation of atmospheric and catchy tracks is still to be found here, very often spiced by several rhythm changes. What really marks the albums though, is the overall atmosphere that comes with it: the dramatic nature of a claustrophobic feeling is clearly created on purpose and it might take a while before you get a feel of that. It’s no less intriguing for that though, as the characteristic that left you sceptical at first, might also be the same one to leave you astonished by its capability of enhancing the kind of electronic proposed. It’s all very refined and stratified on a wide range of sounds, still based on catchy refrains made deep, or even sensual at times, by Daniel’s voice. “New World March” is certainly a recommended release that will highly satisfy the lovers of the genre, and eventually surprise those who are not very familiar with it.
