Blut Aus Nord is a French Ambient Black Metal band. Some might have been mistaken by the band’s name and thought they were German though. Earlier this year the band came with part one of the trilogy 777, now it is part two “The Desanctification” that will be released.
Just as what could have been found on “Sect” Blut Aus Nord remained with the melodic elements in the sound. Though it may be a bit more mystic and dark this time. The fairy tale of Black Metal goes bad in “The Desanctification” but surprisingly the misery does not come with high tempo’s and stereotypical sounds that you could imagine. Light and accessible, but slowly leading you towards the epicness of the music. Clearly the stress of this album is placed on the atmospherical side and therefor the total outcome has an even more ambient feeling. Just as “Sect” it is not an album that serves you all at once. You need to listen to it multiple times. What also is to recommend is listening the first part and the second part straight after each other. Where other trilogies may also be listened separately, this one fits together in such a great way that you would miss out the extra dimension of the complete story if you skip on part one. This while part three is not out yet, it may be really frustrating to know you won’t get the whole story yet, but with these two releases it will keep you busy long enough. So right when you think you felt the essence of it, the last one will be there for you as well. Excitement does not end!
