Releasedate: 28-10-2011; Label: Napalm Records
By: Sabine van Gameren
Isole is a Doom formation from Sweden. The band formed in 2004 and anno 2011 they come with the release of their fifth album “Born From Shadows”.
Isole has a strong reputation and with this release they hold on to it. “Born From Shadows” is an album that has its on-going darkness, struggling and with great melodies the band made a bunch of jewels that the Swedish royal couple could be jealous of. They shine when the vocals tell the doom, they shine when the guitars give you a great riff time after time and Isole surely polished their tracks well. The production is kept quite clean, some may have preferred it a bit more raw perhaps, but for the tracks they made it works quite well. The band surely tried to find some variation in the songs, mainly to be found in the way the vocals are implemented.
“Born From Shadows” is not an album that comes easily, it will need some time to grow on you and that may be its only complaint as it is an album that is very well composed and goes deep enough for the doom fan, but may be a bit hard to get for those who are not into the genre.
