The Open Up And Bleeds – An Act Of Love And Violene

Releasedate: 04-10-2011; Label: AF Records
By: Sabine van Gameren

The Open Up And Bleeds is a Stockholm based rock/punk/new wave band that came together in 2006. A couple of EP’s got released and in 2010 their debut album saw light. Anno 2011 the band “An Act Of Love And Violence” gets some further spreading and promotion.

It surely is a prestigious album, it being the first full length of these guys. The strength of them lays in melancholic voices with catchy riffs dipped into a bitter darkness here and there. They go from calm, slow moments into more wild and intense moments without going through any hard transitions, so easily go along with it and you hardly notice you are drifting away with their sound. The vocals often bring you reality ‘there is a killer in everyone’ and you pick them up fast. Guitars are driving the instrumental parts where drums are pushed backwards quite a lot. The song “WHAT John Said” is one of the highlights of the album for its catchiness, while the slower song “Ok is not Ok” sets you more back into the dark side that this band has as well.
“An Act Of Love And Violence” is a stunning release and if they keep it going like this you might see them grow fast towards the major stages.
