Insomnium is a band from East Finland. They formed in 1997 and are building their name in melodic death metal since. The band is now releasing their fifth album “One For Sorrow”.
Insomnium is Insomnium. Simply said, so whenever a new album comes out you quite know what to expect. Maybe not the most exciting new material, not something different of what they have done before but simply Insomnium. This is not really a bad thing when the quality of the material is good and “One Fore Sorrow” is one album you don’t have to worry about that. It has the strong melodic metal as you are used to from them. The grunts and vocals match very well and they manage to blend them together in the songs, bringing the same lyrics. The instrumental part is done just as great as on their previous album, with perhaps a little more space for them. The guitars are setting a strong landscape that gets filled in by keys and acoustic guitars.
Fair enough, Insomnium did not change a lot since their previous release but why would you change a winning factor anyway? “One For Sorrow” is a typical album of them and their fans can buy it blindly.
