Welle:Erdball – Der Kalte Krieg

Welle: Erdball (often abbreviated as W:E) is a group from Germany often credited with being the pioneers of bitpop. The heavy use of the Commodore 64’s SID sound chip makes their sound instantly recognizable. Their sound is reminiscent of electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk. The name literally means “Wave: Earthglobe”, and in fact comes from a German radio play called “Hallo! Hier Welle Erdball!”. Their logo is a rotated logo of VEB Sachsenring, which built the Trabant. W:E has been a part of the demoscene and produced several musicdisks and other productions over the years. They also gave a live performance at Breakpoint 2006. In addition to their work as Welle: Erdball, Honey was involved in the project called ‘Das Präparat’ from 2003 to 2005. Now their new album is out called “der Kalte Krieg”.

The new album includes fifteen tracks including intro and outro. The songs include audio samplers include politicians recorded during the cold war. Some sounds on the album remind of old atari or gameboy. This makes the music spread positive vibes, makes you giggle or at least feel better. Also are these sounds combines with the melodies of songs the reason for those to easily get stuck in your head. The music animates you to dance along and have a good time. Male and female vocals take turns on this beautiful new Welle: Erdball album. This album will be great for all EBM fans. So enjoy “Der Kalte Krieg” now.
