For The Imperium once introduced themselves to us as “Avantgarde Metal mixed with Scooter”. That was in 2009 when the guys had their EP “In/Die” out. Anno 2011 the band released a full length album called: “For The Imperium”.
The Finns may have their own definition of their music, but to give a general idea of what to expect from them you have to go into the hardcore/metalcore direction. Think technical approaches, riffs that go from giving a strong support to it all towards a more upfront outburst skills. This combined with catchy choruses, the voice go from clean like you expect them in this style to screaming, to some really different sort of voice as you might wonder where the hell this is coming from. A little piece of their humour you could say, but it shows of the diversity of the band. Yet, this diversity comes also in the tempo, often changing from faster to calmer, it is the chaos that suits them so well. Though these surprises here and there may not fit everyone’s taste, perhaps it makes this album one that you can not judge by listening it once or twice. It simply takes some more time. Top tracks are “Pike River” of which the band also made a video, “Creator” and the odd “Until The End”.
So overall the band have made an album that we could expect from them, the little craziness in there and above all nothing standard. This makes it one that has a specific audience, but one to recommend!
