Releasedate: 01-09-2011; Label: Ataman Productions
By: Sabine van Gameren
Although the title may have brought the image up the guys are from elsewhere, these guys are truly coming from Poland, the land of many Death/Black metal formations up and coming. Stillborn is one of those that have some years of existence and now their fourth album is releasing. “Los Asesinos Del Sur”.
First thing that you find is a kind of raw production, comes down to you as if it some ancient recoding that got released and although this may have its charm, it takes you a bit to get over it. Good first shock is over and then you start to discover the beauty within this release. Strong guitar riffs, often taking a step forward on it all, a showcasing element. Vocals are quite raw in here as well, quite suitable with the rest and overall the band seem to have a good balance in here. It’s just that some of the songs appear to be a bit short, when the endings are abrupt, expecting these to be a bit longer.
Overall the band delivered a quite fine release that has a bit of the feeling of the past. Does the nostalgia speaks to you, then this is one for you.
