As they Burn is a Progressive Deathcore formation from France. They started in 2007 and after releasing an EP before they now come with a full length debut album “Aeon’s War”.

Progressive Deathcore could be seen as a cryptical description but it appears to be quite accurate for what these guys do. They have strong riffs and let these lead their music. Often long guitar parts are constructing a basis for their vocalist to come in on it. Kevin, who is responsible for this is bringing quite some brutality with his low grunts full of character. It does not come with a lot of tempo though, often a bit doomish to listen to when they keep the tempo lower than you might have expected and the tension is still building. Really teasing, that letting you wait for that outburst, the climax and then having it coming at a moment you would not expect. Yes, the album is way more intense than you thought and this all makes this release so exciting and surprising. “Aeon’s War” is an album that makes you curious for this band, what do they do live, what else do they have in them and what will come from them in the future. It is not an album you can simply put aside after listening, you will find it on repeat!
