The Mutants are a band from Finland, formed in 1998. The member came from various Finnish punk bands and the have released quite some material through the years. Anno 2011 the band comes with their fourth full length album “Boogie de la Muerte”.
The Finns are up for some instrumental rock music filled with tension building rhythms. In “Boogie de la Muerte” this all comes right into place when the groove is on and the band is building towards one of their climaxes. It is good to hear they have different influences in their sound, making it quite variable and with some tempo changes here and there this get strengthened.
One of the songs that stands out a lot is “Erotic Dönner”, a title that may leave you with some question marks as well, but since there are no lyrics you will have to leave it up to your imagination what is behind this. The album shows the guys have the skills to not only to make good and pleasant music, but also to keep it interesting for ten songs. Something that not all instrumental bands are up to, but these guys are having it quite settled.
“Boogie de la Muerte” is an album that listens easily and you will probably play more often than you would have imagined at first. Recommanded!
