Venue: Bibelot, Dordrecht (Netherlands)

Tonight it was time for some blues, which was a very long time ago that I was listening to some live blues. As my dad always played records of blues and jazz I decided to go check out this Dutch guitar hero. As that is how he is referred to in the media. That is what I like from time to time, a good guitarist, who can play great solo’s and capture the audience with his solo alone.
Julian Sas was born in a tiny village in the Netherlands, on at a young age he already found out he wanted to make music, which turned into his goal in life. He had watched a movie with Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry. At the age of 12 he got his own real guitar an Ibanez les Paul. After liking bands such as Iron Maiden and AC/DC he found out about blues. Guitarist Muddy Waters gave him his passion for blues. After playing in several bands the Julian Sas Band was born. Together with Rob Heyne and bass player Tenny Tahamata he brings his blues on stage.
Tonight I felt quite young, as Julian Sas Band attracts more older people. Some of my friends brought their parents and there was a nice atmosphere. The three piece band started their set with some nice tunes but when the first guitar solo was played the audience cheered big time. Julian Sas does play like it is so easy to do, while you can see him enjoying while playing. Pulling faces, grins and while he closes his eyes purely enjoying his own guitar play. The band plays nice but you need to give Julian Sas the credits for what he does on the guitar. I just like the pure sound of the guitar when it comes to blues. If you like blues this is definitely a must see.
