Brainoil is a Sludge Metal formation from USA. The band has been formed in 1998 and currently releasing their second full length album “Death of This Dry Season”.
The band have not been active for quite a while but suddenly this new album got out. What to expect from the guys is a sludge with a good tempo in it. This comes with a decent dose of aggression, seems like the anger of many years have stumbled upon each other and all came out at once. Though the band is quite on speed, the seven tracks on this release do not have a long playing time and within the time they give there is much of the same. The band does not do long tension building within their album, they are straight to the point. Maybe to conventional for the sludge fan actually. The band has the bass good upfront in the sound which makes up for the fact that it appears to be a bit flat thoughout the album. Feel it within your body, that will not be a problem and that is the strongest point of Brainoil, they succeed in getting their feeling into the music in such a way that everyone feel it with them.
