Departures is a Hardcore formation from the UK. Last year the guys released an EP called “Escaping” but anno 2011 the band comes with a full length release called: “When Losing Everything Is Everything You Wanted”.
Departures brought this album with a lot of passion, that’s a sure thing from the beginning straight. It is hardcore with some interesting screams. Wondering if the guy has a throat left after a show with the guys, you must give him credit for all the fury he puts in. then next to that, there are some nice melodic guitars that bring a rhythm that may be a bit slower than you expect but has some outstanding moments in there on which they break free from the stereotypical sound you might have expected. A modest role in the music is for the drums, but playfully they manage to put that in the spotlight as well so basically you get the best of everything here. Simply a good release with a small remark to make on the vocals. Maybe a bit of variation in the use of it would bring it to some more surprises. It sometimes appears a bit flat while it sounds like vocalist James McKean can go deeper as well. Just a little extra depth. Furthermore, there is nothing that stops you from getting this album.
