Wolfhead is a Doom formation from Spain. The year of creation is 2008 so it is a relative young band. Their debut album is out now and is self titled.
Doom, well that may be a bit of a narrow description for these guys, there is so much more in here. Some post rock, some punk even. The guys will not allow you to pick a box for them that is smaller than they feel comfortable in. Let’s say the guys like the luxury of a villa size box. It is obvious that they guys are breaking boundaries in this genre and it turns out quite well. The basis is quite good, though the vocals are less of my favorite. Mainly because it does not turn out that great at all points, and therefore a bit unsteady. You never know if you will like the next vocal part or not and this makes you doubting heavily. Bit of a shame because for a debut album this release turns out to be quite surprising. The album closes with “Wish You Were Here”, a Pink Floyd cover. Interesting choice of these guys.
Overall the album is worth to get. It has this experimental edge that makes you curious to what more to expect from the guys.
