Gate To Void – Black Empty Void

Releasedate: 2010; Label: Coma Sect
By: Sabine van Gameren

Gate to Void is project that seems a little sinister, and that thought comes cler when hearing the first seconds of the release “Black Empty Void”.

A Black Metal ideology, giving us three tracks full of darkness, sinister and creepy sounds. Crickets in the night, tramping horse feet in the dark and misty hours and sounds you not necessarily can place right away are playing with your imagination. The mood goes from quite ok till the deepest hellgate and back but during the ride you may have lost your sense of time and direction as it is not easy to predict where it is going. This keeps the excitement in it and builds some tension. At first listening it seems all quite minimalistic but this sort of music always comes with more layers than you might notice at first so you have to surrender your self to it and with your fullest attention to “Black Empty Void” you will feel the mysterious sounds drive up to you and enlarge your listening experience. Not an album that is easy to get, but it is one for those who love to live up in the sound, dig into it and enjoy the fact that there are so many tiny things that make the atmosphere of the album as creepy as it is.
