Plastic People is a project by Sebastien Ficagna, He earlier released a demo with electro rock but now he released the album ‘Pink Narcisius’.
It’s a little odd, New Wave with some punk here and there. Some unexpected instruments may brong an extra surprise. Somehow catchy and hand in hand with the rock that comes from formations like Moke or The Editors. Interesting is that the old sound is in there, but also some modern sounds are right next to it, which gives nice contrast. This tames the drama a bit, giving it a more brighter atmosphere. An accordion that is included may enlarge this effect as well. The downsides of the album may be found in the lyrics (“I think my boyfriend is an alien” for example…) and the fact that it is hard to stick with the album from beginning to the end. Things to work on for a next release, but “Pink Narcisius” shows that there is something on the way. The creativity that it radiates make up for a lot and the songs individual are not that bad. Plastic People is a formation that perhaps makes the strongest first impression when seen live and having “Pink Narcisius” as a backup for your memory will do quite well.
