Requiem is a Death Metal band from Switzerland. The band formed in 1997 and the release “Within Darkened Disorder” is their fifth full length release.
Requiem has the idea of making old school Death Metal and do this on a refreshing, modern way. This you find back in production, but also in the music self. What stands out mostly is the drums, quite strong in the mix and coming with a decent tempo. What is a different from earlier releases are the vocals. The band lost their vocalist and decided not to start auditioning a new one, but keep this task in the remaining trio and bring this under to bassist Ralph Winzer. This have turned out quite well. The vocals are remarkable easy to hear and the lyrics supplied may not be that mandatory after all. It may be said that this music is not that original, several bands have been here before, but when the quality is up this level, “Within Darkened Disorder” turn out to be an album that does perfectly in your collection. As only minor remark to make, the album art is not really spectacular, but look beyond that, it’s no reason not to get it.
