Blut Aus Nord – 777 – Sect(s)

Releasedate: 22-04-2011; Label: Debemur Morti Productions
By: Sabine van Gameren

Blut Aus Nord is a French Ambient Black Metal band. Some might have been mistaken by the band’s name and thought they were German though.

Earlier this year, the band have re-released their 2001 album “The Mystical Beast of Rebellion” and now they come with a new album. This album is actually the first one out of a trilogy. What can be hard in this album may be considered closer to their 2009 release “Memoria Vetusta II – Dialogue With The Stars” though. The band kept the melodic side in they took in their previous release which makes it accessible. The mystic is still in here and always fits Blut Aus Nord. The guitars are really pieces of art in the way the band uses them, they have a hypnotic effect and drag you into music. There is so much to hear, that it takes more listening than just a couple of times, which the buyer of the album must be prepared for. Darkness all over and tracks that have diversity in all ways. Instrumental there is always a good spread, drums get their place as well as guitars and any other instrument. Vocals are only there occasionally, hardly of any specific need because the music is full from itself.
The band has succeeded again in making an album that keeps you fully focused while its playing. And good to know, this album is only the first out of a trilogy, which means there are two more parts to come. We can’t wait and if you haven’t heard of this band before, this album is a great one to start with.
