The Bouncing Souls is a punk rock band from New Brunswick, New Jersey, formed in 1987. By the time of their acknowledgment by the national punk rock scene, they had reignited a “pogo” element to New Jersey punk rock by playing fast light-hearted songs, a model followed by various other local bands.
“Complete Control Recording Sessions” is a live EP by The Bouncing Souls. It was recorded at Swing House Studios in Los Angeles, CA. It is the first in SideOneDummy’s series “The Complete Control Sessions”. It is released digitally and on vinyl. The artwork is by El Jefe Designs. Other than on usual live recordings, on this one you can’t hear any audience but instead a more than clear sound of the band playing six songs – a typical studio sound. The first two songs “Highway Kings” as well as “Hybrid Moments” are faster songs before it slows down. Almost like an acoustic session the EP continues with “The Guest”, “Gone”, “The Freaks, the Nerds and the Romantics” and “The Fall Song”. A brilliant release by one of the most amazing bands, Bouncing Souls and a must have for not only punk and Bouncing Souls fans but for everybody who loves good music. The six tracks suck you into their own little world and take your mind off the daily troubles. Six songs going by so fast, making you crave for more that you automatically hit the replay button. Simply amazing! I am speechless, hitting the replay button once again. And you should to! Go get “Complete Control Session” now!
