Devildriver has been around since 2002. Yet after all these years it still gets compared to vocalist Dez his previous band Coal Chamber. Anno 2011 the band comes with their album “Beast” which is the fifth full length release of these Americans.
The band is known for bringing quite a consistent sound with not too much variations throughout the past years. Devildriver quite brings what you expect from them. Compared to their previous release “Prey For Villains” they heathen it up a little, a little more fury and speed. Obviously the guitarists supply you with a decent dose of riffage and with these harsh vocals making a good mix of aggression. The guys did not hold themselves back, twelve tracks are brought to you and with a playing time of almost an hour they quite know how to keep your interest with bringing variation in the songs and a track list that keeps the speed in it all. Musically there aren’t much remarks to make, Devildriver knows their tasks and fulfills this job as if they do it with their eyes closed. The artwork of the album is maybe less attractive, but for fans this is probably a minor detail.
