The Judge Band – The Judge Band

Releasedate: 2010; Label: 16 Second Stare Records
By: Sabine van Gameren

The Judge is Tim Shank, an American singer/songwriter with a rock and roll heart. He released a self titled album with his band.

A pure rock and roll singer songwriter is what Tim is. Hear some bluesy influences in there but never forget about Iggy Pop. With this typical raw edge on his voice he sings about all the rock and roll events happening in his life and the results of it. When reading his bio, it seems like Tim had quite a portion of it so he seem to have the right to speak. Sure, none of it sounds like it has never done before, the man seem to know what have worked in the past and tried to get his share with it too. But we are living anno 2010 in a world that seeks for either more originality or perfectionism and neither of this come close to reality concerning The Judge Band. Sure, it ain’t the worst product ever, but if you enjoyed some classics, this album does not really stick out enough. And if you bothered to visit their homepage and watch the video’s that include a bunch of friends/fans, you probably have had enough of them soon. Not yet ready to convince, some work can be done. A bit more catchy perhaps, none of the songs stick in mind and make the instruments come together a bit more, rather than just putting some individual parts aside.
