Issa is a 26 year old girl from Oslo, Norway. She makes Melodic Rock and releases her debut album “Sign of Angels” right now.
It surely is a refreshment, a girl with this kind of voice choosing not to end up in a stereotypical symphonic metal band, but giving her voice to this Melodic Rock album. The music is all around her voice, instead of being just the beauty element. And it is much welcomed, a rock chick a la Issa. Her warm, yet sharp voice gets excellent back up by guitars and mostly the keyboard (by Tim Larsson) who gives the melodic side of the music a perfect fit. It is not surprising to see that the music reminds to the past decades of rock, but seeing this 26 year old girl bringing her voice to upfront it makes you realize that there is a whole new generation out there which she represents very well with “Sign of Angels”. It is catchy and would be chart material in the northern countries at least.
Imagining how Issa would do live, you can only imagine those guitar solo’s being more impressive and bombastic as they are now more in the background, to give space to Issa to show off. Probably a different balance, but it is clear: Issa is on the wish list!
