Gorgot – Schmerzkiller

Releasedate: 20-08-2010; Label: Danse Macabre
By: Nina Mende

Gorgot is a German Industrial/EBM project by Tim Melchisedech. Tim Melchisedech’s version of modern electro industrial allows humour – sampling everything from B to C movies, he creates his unique signature.. Musically being inspired by X-Fusion and Xotox, Gorgot offers extreme dancetracks.

Their new album is called „Schmerzkiller“ and all lyrics on the album are in German. The industrial music on this album is very easy and repetitive. There is only a few vocals on this album, most of the spoken words are film samples. With a harsh and strong beat Gorot is kicking the industrial dance floors. For an album that you would listen to at home it is a little too much though and not very diversified. “Schmerzkiller” is too much like previous industrial releases back when putting many film samples into each song was still a trend. Gorgot created a nice album for dance floors and industrial parties, or maybe for people who really don’t listen to anything else. But I am sure “Schmerzkiller” as whole album won’t be a daily companion to many listeners. Yet again, several tracks of this album will be found in playlists, that is for sure. The album layout is held dark with white print and album logo. It looks a little bit like a cover of a massacre horror movie.
