Portal – Lurker at the Threshold

Releasedate: 11-05-2010; Label: Profound Lore Records
By: Sabine van Gameren

The Australian band Porter got formed in 1994. After about 9 years their debut album saw light and the band have been releasing some more after that. “Lurker At The Threshold”

Porter makes quite deep death metal. You get the feeling there is some black metal involved with them as well, an experimental side that causes a lot of chaos. Keep your attention, you miss out on little details easily, also caused by the speed that comes with the chaos. It’s not extremely fast, but in combination with this deep dark growls and maybe not the cleanest production you get something that you need to listen some extra times to get the cause of. Not much of a punishment, but do not try that with a hangover. It will be too much. It has that filthy touch of underground on it and that is why you like it. No clean polished stuff that slides by all the time, but something you love to keep as your treasure.

This release only has place for two songs, both in extension of each other as it seems. It’s worth trying to get your hands on, get the chaos coming.
