The German Metalcore band Callejón is releasing their album “Videodrom”.
This band has a little advance on all the other metalcore bands that passed us lately, they sing in German. That means at least that they are a little different than the others. Besides that, this band is using a mentionable amount of effects, making it sometimes a bit poppy An electronic touch here and there is surely refreshing and the band dosed it carefully, making sure that it never crossed the border. With their melodic riffing an meeting with the Swedish formation Soilwork, but it easily changes to something more core. Especially in the clean vocals it might be a hard task for a not-German listener to like, but surely there is a market for them. Probably the kids who are sick and tired of Tokio Hotel and are growing up, getting ready for something more aggressive. This band will most likely find an audience in that group. A little bit disappointing is the last song, “Gott Ist Tot”. Probably one of the most unoriginal songtitles to have.
Callejon is not the next big hit yet, the metalfan will have to get used to them, but there is the potential for them to attract a lot of young folks. The album is therefore perfectly timed, there is place for them and when you give them some more time, you’ll see that this band is more fun to listen to than you thought at the first time. You have to give it time and for once not judge it on the first time you hear it.
