Rita Coolidge has been around for quite some years. She has been on tour with various musicians and released quite some solo work also. Right now she is released her 18th full length album, a long discography on her hands. It is called “Safe In The Arms of Time” and it is available now.
At this release Rita has brought some great musicians together to support her on this album. Great guitarists give some extra shine to the songs that are so heartwarming pleasant already. For example the song “Spirit World” which seems so serene but gets just that extra spice its needs with the guitars on her side.
Here and there she shakes things up a bit with “We Are Blood” in which the whole gets a bit more energetic, somehow even manic at one point. But then there are also the more calmer “You Can Fall In Love” in which she has all the time to focus on the details.
The years and years of experience are so visible in this album. Rita knows exactly when to go faster, or slow it down, when to throw in that note and when to let you wait. To build up tension and to play with your emotions. To bring you in a serene state of mind and to heat you up again.
“Safe In The Arms of Time” is a great release, but after 18 albums you would not expect any different. It never gets boring, so stay tuned for what more may be ahead.
