Sixturnsnine – Spinning Numbers

[schema type=”review” name=”Sixturnsnine – Spinning Numbers” description=”Label: Echozone Records” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2018-05-25″ ]Sixturnsnine is a formation that makes a combination of Jazz, Dub and Trip Hop. They are releasing their EP “Spinning Numbers” right now.

This formation has a quite experimental approach and is definitely something we did not expect to see with Echozone but it’s not necessarily a bad surprise. The jazz in this music is quite forming, the rest is there as well but roam a bit more in shifts, where you feel that jazz vibe all through the release. Looking at the songs they have chosen wisely for an EP. The songs are all good as standing on their own but in the bigger picture could have been connected a bit stronger. Sometimes you feel being thrown back and forth. The root of that is found in the experiment with different sounds. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not and simply become a bit too much.
The largest pro on this release are the vocals. Pleasant to listen to and guiding your way through it.

Altogether the release appears to be an interesting one. One might find it all good, but it could certainly also hit the other way. It is not for the ones who prefer the heaviest sounds, that is for sure, but it has its moments regardless.

1. Painted Clouds
2. Thunder
3. Threat In The Neck
4. Souls
5. Blue Gothic
6. Threat In The Neck (State Of Siege Mix By Spherical Disrupted)
