Dési Ducrot is a Dutch vocalist making Pop/Americana. She released her latest album “In Too Deep” recently.
A soft and pleasant voice come to you when the album starts. It feels a bit painful if you listen to her songs. She brings her drama with so much passion that you start to feel for the girl. To feel her pain like it is your own. Accompanied with some lovely piano or perhaps going a bit more towards an electric backing, it does not matter because Dési has the quality to make herself claim that spotlight and have the music there as a leverage for that.
In “Mud” you hear the passion coming deep after which you fall back towards the more surfaced “Wake Up” but when you come to “Don’t Tell Me You’re a Poet” you get to hear a total different feel of Dési.
The at the end you think you may have an idea of what you could expect, but she surpasses you again with “I Thought I Would Remember”, a lovely closer to the release that keeps you in that floaty mood.
So, the album is a surprise. Angelic voice, pop songs with a bit of a twist. Knowing that this woman could go into so many directions with her voice, but stays true to her own likes and give you exactly that.
