[schema type=”review” name=”Throne of Heresy – Decameron” description=”Label: The Sign Records” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2017-11-30″ ]The Swedish band Throne of Heresy formed in 2009. The guys make Death Metal and are currently releasing their third album called “Decameron”.
About two years ago we wrote about the band’s previous release which turned out to be quite fine and now we get to hear if they built onto that and advanced. Although this album came out late last year we are happy to have a go with this one. The recent Tribulation album sets a highbar and these guys have a hint in that direction so it is something to keep the two together. Maybe Throne of Heresy has a bit more vehemence, which suits them. Atmospherically the guys have their ideas and worked them out into detail. Here and there finding some connection to other genres, but with exciting tempo changes the band often captivates us. Agressive parts are coming in much detail and you feel the passion. The album simply does not give you the chance to get bored with it.
Altogether I think it is safe to say that the guys climbed up from their last release, which was fine already. I think with some more listens we re probably hooked on it. It does awake our curiosity about how these guys will bring this live so to say.
