[schema type=”review” name=”Blind Ego – Liquid” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2016-10-21″ ]Kalle Wallner is a guitarist that we know very well from the band RPWL. But he also has his own project called Blind Ego and with that band he is now releasing a new album called “Liquid”.
The progressive side of Kalle comes out pretty well in this release, but what we found even more remarkable is the heaviness that we hear in this release. A fine balanced heaviness that is. “Liquid” is filled with songs that ask some dedicated listening. You can easily dig into it and become with the music, feel the words, the mood and the music is guiding you through all of that. Take for example the song “What If” which starts so calmly but evolves in an intensive song that you feel. Not just hear but also feel. With that Blind Ego shows a good quality that not all bands bring in. It makes us instantly curious of a live effort.
And one thing we must not forget to tell you about are the qualities of Kalle as a guitarist. Every song shows some inventive riffing, playing you a part that elaborated the melodies you heard, a pleasure to listen to and that alone already should be enough reason to get this release.
“Liquid” is a fine album, the band took their time make it but it was all worth the wait.
