Nihilism – Beyond Redemption

[schema type=”review” name=”Nihilism – Beyond Redemption” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2016-10-28″ ]The French formation Nihilism is formed in 2009. The Death Metal band has since released a demo but thought it is now time for a full length to see light. “Beyond Redemption” is out now.

An Interesting sound comes to you when the cd starts, it is smart thinking in the way that you give it some more attention right from the beginning. It has a catchiness in these riffs and although it sounds somewhat familiar it suits well there. The guys experiment a little with some influences here and there but if you look at the whole they certainly succeeded to put their own name and identity to it. An in the face sound which is smartly balanced, none of the band members fall behind in the mix, all gets equal attention and it appears that they have thought it through carefully.
Of course there is some space to grow as it is just a first release, this mainly found in level of aggression, sometimes it is right there and sometimes you think they could take it up a little.

Overall this is a more than fine release, one that is easy to listen to and you quite get what they are after. One to keep in mind for sure!
