[schema type=”review” name=”Lordi – Monstereophonic Theaterror vs Demonarchy” description=”Label: AFM” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2016-09-16″ ]Lordi got fame outside of Finland with them winning Eurovision some years ago, but while they have now a steady fanbase, they fall somewhere between the commercial charts side and the Metal side. Anno 2016 they release a new album called “Monstereophonic Theaterror vs Demonarchy”.
Lordi surprised many at Tuska this year by giving a spotless performance, showing exactly why they got so successful in the beginning. They have this catchy, commercial side of them. Lyrics you pick up easily and are often giving fans a word of strength, a little joke or some interesting story to listen to. But then for those who listen a bit deeper there are plenty of skills to discover in their music as well. Sure not in all songs everything comes out but have you listened to these guitarriffs that come out in songs “And The Zombie Says” for example? They are combined with some hyperactive synths and this strengthens both.
Most remarkable on the release is the track “Hug You Hardcore” Which has a heavy start, yet turning into catchiness in the refrain. A typical Lordi song we would say, one that will be a live-darling in no time.
“Monstereophonic Theaterror vs Demonarchy” shows us exactly what we learned from Lordi earlier. They have a good balance between the catchiness and the heaviness and score again with this release. Some monster hits are awaiting you.
