It has been many years, but they are back now.

The club itself is a rather new one in town and has a cosy interior, people get in early enough to see also the support act of the evening which is called Egonaut. They start their set quite fanatic, setting the scene but surprise us when after a couple songs the tempo drops and we are getting to that Stoner sound, somewhat stereotypical in these slower parts. It is in these parts they take it up again that they have the chance to show who they are. The keys are a great factor in that.
With their latest release “Deluminati” dating to last year, they did some touring in Germany and now show a good opening act.

Egonaut

BeseechA good amount of people have gathered to see Beseech and the band has prepared a set for tonight that may please many. Besides the songs of the new album “My Darkness, Darkness” the band has also some older songs on the setlist.

The band has a new line-up and so it was a bit different to see these older songs played in this setting, but the crowd that gathered takes it all in. Crowd pleasers as “Souls Highway”, “Drama” and “Between The Lines” are played and people were singing along.
The songs of the new album are the ones who shined most for the night, made for the band we see tonight, everything seem to fit perfectly and with no reference of earlier shows they simply come out very well. The band opened with catchy “The Shimmering” but gets the audience on their hands more with the mellow “My Darkness, Darkness”.

Later on the played “Highwayman” a cover of Jimmy Webb’s song. It seemed a little oddly placed in between the older songs, but did not waste the energy at all. Closing the evening is the song “Manmade Dreams”, after which the audience wanted more. More will be there when the band will be touring more though, giving the fans a chance to chat up with the band at the merch.

It was a lovely show to start a new Beseech era. A bit of the old and a bit of the new. A mix that shows where they come from and what to expect from them next. It is much in line, but the subtle differences make it exciting to listen to. The new members have been baptized into the Beseech fan base and made a good impression this night. The album is available now, so for each curious mind there is the opportunity to get it and experience that darkness(, darkness )yourself.
