Female-fronted Dutch melodic metal band La-Ventura is back with a second EP of their career called simply “2.0”. The band has 2 full albums (A New Beginning, White Crow) and an EP (Breaking the Silence) from earlier. They have been active in the metal scene since 2007 with their work and live performances. The band can be counted in the group of melodic rock bands of Europe such as Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil and Amaranthe, etc. Being a fan of this melodic genre, I was quite excited to have discovered one more band like La-Ventura and I gotta mention that this band needs to have more recognition with their sound already.
With this brand new EP, the band says they now have a reinvented, heavier but also more melodic tune to their sound. “2.0” has such 4 melodic and upbeat tracks, all of them absolutely rock with catchy refrains and heavy riffs. They definitely all still have the gothic vibe to them with kind of a moody-groovy streak. Carla Van Huisen’s vocals are clean and very pleasant. Lyrics of the songs are powerful. The track named “As I Lay Dying” is the most outstanding one on the EP with this strong, awesome melody. The rest 3 tracks are nevertheless in the same vein.
The band has been performing live in many European metal festivals and also they have been having their own gigs, with this EP, they will continue touring Europe and in UK at the Quinphonic Festival throughout the year 2016. If you are also a fan of melodic clean genre like I am, it’s high time that you added La-Ventura in your to-rock-out-to playlist.
