[schema type=”review” name=”Gonoreas – Destructive Ways” description=”Label: Sonic Revolution” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2015-11-06″ ]Gonoreas is a Swiss formation making Heavy Metal. The band is formed in 1994, but the first full length album did not come out until 2003. In ten years they have released some more material, their fourth full length called “The Mask of Shame” being released about a year ago, they are already back with album number five. “Destructive Ways” is out now.
In the previous album we got introduced to vocalist Leandro, new in the band. As we can see his role in the band got a bit more adventurous, we preferred the strength and stability from the previous release. Here and there an experiment is overgrowing its purpose and makes it easy to stop being interested. The whole release is perhaps a step closer to a stereotype. Iced Earth and maybe Gamma Ray would be bands to describe what these guys are after and they certainly stepped even more into that direction. The strength of Gonoreas is in the guitars. Great riffs will entertain you well, while they give enough vehemence to give it substance.
“Destructive Ways” is a logical follow up from these guys. Leandro shows his stamp to the band a bit more, giving it more identity and altogether the release turned out well. When his strengths are found and highlighted even more the next one will be killer.
